Common FAQs

Answer:

We will acknowledge receiving the brain. A detailed neuropathological examination of the brain will be performed.
This takes a few months.

We ask whether your family would like the information from this examination but as it is not written in lay language, we suggest it may be more appropriate to send the report to a G.P. of their choosing, for them to discuss with him/her. If the results have implications for family members, this can be addressed at that time.

If your family would like more information about research supported by Brains for Dementia Research they can choose to receive our newsletter, which will include reports on studies conducted with donated brain tissue.
