Brains for Dementia Research Press Launch
Published: Tuesday 13th October 2009
Brains for Dementia Research is officially launched in the UK press
David Blunkett MP has announced his intention to be a brain donor, and it is hoped that his support for the campaign will raise awareness of the need for brain donation.
Our network of brain banks across England and Wales is now fully operational. The coordinating centre at King's College London has received almost 400 enquiries since the beginning of 2009, with many more being handled by each of the participating centres.
Over 100 people are now registered as brain donors with BDR. All of the donors are part of a clinical trial into brain donation, and are playing a vital role in helping the cause of research into dementia.
It is important to remember that anyone can be a donor, not just people with dementia.
There is more information on the BDR press launch on the King's College London and Alzheimer's Society websites.
